Falk is asking a lot of questions to make sure there are no inconsistencies with Green's testimony.
Green has been excused as a witness.
State's next witness is Karen Roberts, Administrative Assistant at KLETC.
Roberts: Seacat asked her for an overhead projector. She helped him find one in a storage room. Seacat told her he was working on a "fraud thing" and wanted to duplicate something he was working on. He came back later asking for a power strip.
Roberts under cross examination: I never saw Seacat use the overhead projector and never did find a power strip to give him.
Next witness is Chris Turner, Special Agent for KBI. The witness cannot be shown by our camera.
Turner: Searched a Volkswagen Passat at the Seacat house. During search noticed a black journal in the driver's front seat.
Turner: Journal was odd to me because it did not have as much soot, dirt and dog hair as other items in the car. There weren't very many entries in the journal. The last entry was April of 2010. Opened and went to the book mark.
Turner: The writing utensil for this entry was different than the other entries. I can't remember the exact substance of the entry but I took it for a goodbye letter, or what we commonly refer to as a suicide note.
Turner: Journal was collected into evidence and sent off for handwriting analysis.
Falk asking the forensice lab report not be admitted since it says the authorship cannot be determined. State arguing there was other analysis made.
Judge is now ruling on a defense objection to the state's effort to introduce the forensic lab report into evidence.
Objection overruled. The report will be allowed.
Turner is now being cross examined by Roger Falk
Turner reads from the suicide note he found in the car: "I can't do this. Tell them (boys) Mommy loves them every night."
Taking a timeout from the blog to work on my TV reports. Be back in a few.
The judge instructed us to move the camera away from the witness and gallery during the testimony of this KBI Special Agent
Special Agent Turner has been excused
Marie, ask and you shall receive.
Next witness is Kathleen Forrest, Vashti's older sister.
Forrest: Vashti told her she was afraid of her husband...every time for the last three or four months. The last time was two days before Vashti died.
Judge ruling on objection to Forrest's statements about her sister's state of mind.
Jenny, I'm pretty sure Falk is from Wichita.
Forrest tried to slip in a comment that Brett Seacat tried to kill her (Vashti) during a dream, knowing that Falk was preparing to object.
Forrest now answering questions about a dream Vashti said Brett Seacat had. Falk is objecting everytime the Forrest tries to speak about the contents of the dream.
